Step by Step Installation

Base System

1. Install Kubuntu
2. Get V4L drivers
   • Uncomment universe from /etc/apt/sources.list
   • Apt-Get mercurial
   • Grab latest V4L source from linuxTV
   • Apt-Get linux-headers
   • Build and install V4L modules
3. sudo modprobe saa7134 card=85 (see appendix)
4. sudo modprobe saa7134-dvb
5. For AverMedia 771: in brief:- just add the following modules to the file /etc/modules dvb-bt8xx mt352 then either sudo modprobe dvb-bt8xx sudo modprobe mt352 or reboot
6. Nvidia Drivers
   • Follow instructions at: Beryl Project As far as installing the nvidia beta driver.

Compiling from source

MythWeb and Streaming

Remember that for the auth_digest stuff, the realm is MythTV. Also, if older apache 2, you'll need to set option for AuthDigestFile not AuthUserFile.

When MythTV falls over

I've had an issue with the PC freezing for no known reason and requiring a hard-reset. (No access to TTY) And it seems to have hung during database manipulation. Resulting in a corrupted Program table. So, if you see the error:

Can't open file: program.MYI. (errno: 145)

Then try the following:

    "This is corruption of a MySQL database table. The program table is damaged.

    Couple of ways to fix this.
    Enter the MySQL prompt from the shell:

    mysql -u dbuname -h dbhost -p dbname;

    repair table program;

    or...

    I used this to fix the program table 
    when it went corrupt.

    myisamchk -r program"
